Privacy Policy

Effective Date: October 24, 2026

Discipleship Compass (“Discipleship Compass,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is operated by Sarge Sites LLC.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you create an account, complete a discipleship assessment, receive an assessment report, participate through a church enrollment link, view your results, or otherwise use the Discipleship Compass website and application (the “Service”).

Discipleship Compass is a Christian discipleship assessment and reflection tool. Because the Service may collect information relating to religious beliefs, spiritual practices, church affiliation, demographics, and personal development, we recognize that some of the information entrusted to us may be particularly sensitive.

By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we may collect information such as your:

  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • Authentication and account information
  • Email confirmation and password-recovery information

Passwords are handled through our authentication system and are not stored by us in readable plain text.

Church and Organizational Information

We may collect or maintain information about your relationship with a church or ministry, including:

  • Your current church affiliation
  • Campus or location, when applicable
  • A church entered by you for informational purposes
  • Whether you joined Discipleship Compass through an authorized church enrollment link

Users who register directly through the public registration process may be classified as unaffiliated for Church Admin Analytics purposes even if they provide the name of a church.

Enrollment through a church-specific Discipleship Compass link establishes an analytics affiliation with that participating church. It does not constitute church membership, verification of membership, or assignment of any church leadership role.

Profile and Demographic Information

The Service may ask you to provide profile information relevant to discipleship research, reporting, and ministry insights.

Depending on the version of the Service you use, this information may include age range, gender, marital status, education, employment information, ZIP code, years following Jesus, church background, church attendance, Bible-reading habits, prayer habits, baptism information, small-group involvement, serving involvement, mentoring or discipleship experience, spiritual gifts, ministry interests, personality or assessment types, preferred communication methods, availability, life transitions, prayer needs, or requests for pastoral follow-up.

Some profile fields are required to complete the onboarding process, while others may be optional.

Assessment Responses

When you complete a Discipleship Compass assessment, we collect your responses to the assessment questions.

Assessment responses are generally numerical scores associated with discipleship behaviors and categories. Those responses are used to calculate results and generate your personalized assessment.

Personalized Assessment Reports

After you complete an assessment, Discipleship Compass may use an artificial intelligence service to help generate a personalized written assessment based on your responses.

We may store the resulting assessment so that it can be emailed to you, displayed in your account, and used to operate the Service.

AI-generated assessments are intended for reflection and discipleship development and should not be considered professional counseling, medical advice, psychological diagnosis, pastoral authority, prophecy, or divine revelation.

Communications

We may collect information relating to communications we send or receive, including assessment emails, account-related messages, support requests, and delivery status information.

Technical and Usage Information

When you use the Service, our systems and service providers may automatically collect certain technical information, such as IP address, browser type, device information, timestamps, request logs, error information, and similar technical data necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service.

We may also use cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for authentication, session management, security, and application functionality.

2. How We Use Information

We use information collected through Discipleship Compass to operate and provide the Service.

This includes creating and securing user accounts; authenticating users; administering the discipleship assessment; preserving assessment progress; generating scores and reports; generating AI-assisted personalized assessments; emailing completed assessments; displaying results in user dashboards; associating participating users with churches; providing permitted Church Admin Analytics; maintaining historical assessment integrity; troubleshooting errors; preventing abuse; providing support; improving the Service; and complying with applicable legal obligations.

We do not use personal information for third-party advertising.

We do not sell personal information.

3. Artificial Intelligence Processing

Discipleship Compass uses the OpenAI API to assist in generating personalized assessment reports.

Information submitted to the AI service may include assessment responses, calculated results, category information, or other context needed to generate the report.

The AI provider processes this information according to its applicable business/API terms, privacy practices, and data controls.

We do not intentionally submit passwords or authentication credentials to the AI service.

AI-generated material may contain errors, omissions, or interpretations that do not accurately reflect your circumstances. You should use the report as a discipleship reflection resource rather than as an authoritative determination about your faith, spiritual maturity, health, or personal circumstances.

4. Church Admin Analytics

If you complete an assessment while affiliated with a participating church through Discipleship Compass, your assessment may contribute to that church's aggregate discipleship analytics.

Church Admin Analytics are designed to help church leaders understand broad patterns in discipleship development within their participating population.

These analytics may include aggregated information about assessment participation, discipleship categories, behaviors, trends, and demographic groups.

Privacy safeguards are used to reduce the risk that analytics could be used to identify an individual participant. For example, small demographic groups or comparisons may be suppressed when there are too few participants to display the result safely.

Church Admin Analytics are not intended to provide church leaders with another user's individual assessment answers or personalized assessment report.

Discipleship Compass platform administrators may have greater access when reasonably necessary to operate, support, troubleshoot, secure, or administer the Service.

5. Historical Church Association

Assessment records are associated with the church context that applied when the assessment was completed.

If your current church affiliation changes later, the historical church association attached to a previously completed assessment may remain unchanged.

This allows historical analytics to accurately reflect the organizational context in which an assessment was originally completed.

Changing your current church affiliation does not transfer ownership of historical assessment analytics from one participating church to another.

6. How We Share Information

We may disclose information to service providers that help us operate Discipleship Compass.

These providers may include cloud hosting and database providers, email-delivery services, artificial intelligence providers, error-monitoring services, infrastructure providers, and other vendors necessary to provide the Service.

Current infrastructure may include providers such as Heroku/Salesforce for application hosting and infrastructure, OpenAI for AI-assisted report generation, Mailtrap for email delivery, and Sentry for application error monitoring.

These providers process information on our behalf or as necessary to provide their respective services and are subject to their own contractual and privacy obligations.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, court orders, government requests, protect the security or integrity of the Service, investigate fraud or abuse, protect the rights or safety of users or others, or establish or defend legal claims.

If Discipleship Compass or the organization operating it is reorganized, merged, transferred, or succeeded by another organization, information may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to applicable law.

7. What Participating Churches Receive

Participating churches may receive aggregate analytics generated from eligible assessments associated with their church.

A church's access to analytics does not mean that the church owns a user's account, password, personal email account, or personalized assessment report.

Enrollment through a church link is used to establish the organizational context for analytics. It should not be interpreted as proof of formal church membership.

8. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, loss, or misuse.

These safeguards may include authenticated accounts, access controls, encrypted network connections, database controls, restricted administrative access, and other security practices appropriate to the Service.

Our hosting provider also maintains security and access controls for its infrastructure. Heroku states that customer data is access controlled and that its personnel do not access customer data as part of normal operations except in circumstances such as approved support or legal requirements.

No electronic system, however, can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

9. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate Discipleship Compass, maintain user accounts, provide assessment reports, maintain appropriate historical analytics, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, maintain security, and enforce our agreements.

Completed assessment records may be retained as historical records even when a user's current church affiliation later changes.

Some information may also remain temporarily in system backups, logs, or records maintained by service providers.

Where applicable law gives you a right to request deletion, correction, access, or another privacy right, we will review and respond to the request as required by applicable law.

Certain records may need to be retained when necessary for legal, security, fraud-prevention, historical-integrity, or other legitimate purposes.

10. Your Privacy Choices and Rights

You may contact us to request information about personal information associated with your account, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion where applicable, or raise a concern about how your information is being handled.

Your rights may differ depending on where you live.

We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain privacy requests.

11. Children and Teen Users

Discipleship Compass is not intended for children under 13 years of age.

Children under 13 may not create an account or provide personal information through the Service.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without legally required authorization, we will take appropriate steps to address the information as required by law.

Users who are at least 13 but under the age of legal majority in their jurisdiction should use the Service only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian.

Parents or guardians who believe a child has provided information improperly should contact us at support@discipleshipcompass.com.

12. Email Communications

We may send transactional emails necessary to operate the Service, including account confirmation messages, password-recovery messages, assessment reports, processing notifications, and other service-related communications.

These messages are not considered marketing communications merely because they relate to your use of Discipleship Compass.

If we later introduce optional promotional or marketing communications, we will provide appropriate choices regarding those communications.

13. Third-Party Websites and Services

The Service may contain links to third-party websites, church resources, or other services.

This Privacy Policy does not govern independent third-party websites or services. Their collection and use of information is governed by their own policies.

14. International Users

Discipleship Compass is operated from the United States.

If you access the Service from another country, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other locations where our service providers operate.

Additional privacy rights may apply depending on your jurisdiction.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as Discipleship Compass changes or as legal, security, or operational requirements evolve.

When we make material changes, we may provide notice through the Service, by email, or by another appropriate method.

The Effective Date at the top of this Privacy Policy identifies the version currently in effect.
